0yo Local Govt Staff Pension Board Holds 2025 End Of The Year Thanksgiving And Award Ceremony

Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has organized  maiden edition of End of the year thanksgiving and award ceremony in December 2025.

The Chairman of the Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige while delivering his welcome address said” we  thank  Almighty God for sparing our lives from January to December despite the challenges in our dear nation and we also appreciate the Executive Governor of Oyo State His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for providing conducive work environment and other incentives for us to perform optimally without any hindrance or difficulty”

“Today’s  programme  is a maiden  edition and the management of the Board deemed it necessary to appreciate the people that have contributed to the success we have achieved so far at the  Board”

Also, the state Head of Service,  Mrs Olubunmi Oni who was the special guest of honour at the event, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mr Rotimi Babalola commended  Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership, prioritizing welfare  of public servants and ensuring sustainability of Local Government Staff Pension Board .

In their various goodwill messages, the Chairman House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honors, Hon Akintunde Olajide AKT, former Hon Commissioner for Finance, Hon Bimbo Adekanbi, State NULGE President, Comrade Ayobami  Adeogun, State NUP Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Abatan  and Chairman,  Broadcasting Cooperation of Oyo State

(BCOS) Mrs Dotun Olaitan represented by the General Manager, Alhaji kunle Junaid commended Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing workers and pensioners welfare since assumption of office since May  2019 till date.

The highlights of the programme include, praise songs, semon,  prayers and presentation of awards  to those that have contributed immensely to the success recorded so far at the Board.

Posthumous Meritorious Service Award was presented to the pioneer Chairman of the Board Late  Hon Prince Abdulfatai Adebayo Adeyemi, The first Permanent Secretary of the Board, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Affairs, Comrade  Bayo Titilola-Sodo and former Secretary of the Board, retired Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Risikat  Ayodele Busari received Meritorious Service Awards for their contributions and innovations which brought positive transformation to  the Board.

Other awardees include Meritorious Service Awardees Mr Salami Moruf Adekunle, Deacon Morolahun Michael Oladapo , Mrs Janet Okanlawon and post humous Meritorious Service Awardee Late Mrs Popoola Rashidat.

In response to the Posthumous award presented to the pioneer Chairman, late Prince Abdulfatai Adebayo Adeyemi, the brother of the deceased , Hon Akeem Adeyemi, Federal honourable  representing Oyo Federal Constituency, expressed sincere appreciation to the management of the Board and Oyo State Government for deeming it fit to recognize the pioneer Chairman.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr Musibau Olatunbosun Ladele appreciated the entire members of staff of the Board for their unwavering commitment and dedication to duties and promised that their welfare will always be paramount to the management of the Board.

Oyo State Retired Primary School Teachers And  Local Govt Staff Commend Gov Makinde For Payment Of Gratuity

Retired Primary School  Teachers and Local Government Staff have commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State,  His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for being consistent in the payment of gratuity.

The commendation was given during the payment of gratuity to another batch of retired Local Government Staff and Public Primary School Teachers by the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board held on Tuesday across the geo-political zones of the state.

In his remarks during the monitoring of the payment exercise, the Chairman of the Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige represented by the Permanent Secretary,  Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina expressed gratitude to  Governor Seyi Makinde  for approving Two Billion Naira (#2b) for payment of gratuity  for the months of August and September  to over six hundred  retired primary school teachers,  local government staff and next of kins of deceased retirees.

Alhaji Muraina said the Governor has never reneged on his promise to prioritize the welfare of pensioners in the pacesetter state.

He then admonished the beneficiaries to spend their money wisely, that they should not venture into any business with fraudsters and live a healthy lifestyle.

He then solicited for more support and cooperation of all pensioners as the present administration  makes life more meaningful for all and sundry especially the senior citizens.

In their separate remarks, the State Chairman, retired Primary School Teachers wing,  Comrade Dosu Akinpelu and State Secretary, retired Local Government Staff wing, comrade Ricketts Olasupo gave kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde for being consistent in the payment of gratuity and other welfare packages. They also advised the beneficiaries to take good care of their health and spend the money judiciously.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Amzat Mojeed  Adijolola, Mrs. Adeyemi Mopelola Kemi and Mrs. Orimolade Esther Moromoke appreciated  the governor for always considering senior citizens in the scheme of things under this administration and prayed for God’s blessings and wisdom as he  continues to steer the ship of the state to promised land .

All the Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Sector, Pastor Adeola Oduola, Mr Femi Akinwale, Dr  Adefunke Hamzat, Dr Adedapo  Atoyebi, Alhaji Amusat Busari, Mr Thomas Oguntona,  Nigeria Union of Pensioners Executives, Local Government Executive Chairmen, Heads of Local Government Administration and other top government officials were in attendance at the payment exercise.

Oyo Govt. Pays #2b Gratuity To Retired Primary School Teachers, Local Govt Staff

The Oyo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has paid Two Billion Naira to another batch of retired Local Government Staff and Public Primary School Teachers.

While delivering the keynote address at the flag- off ceremony held on Friday, 15th August at the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige said the Governor approved and released the sum of Two Billion Naira for the months of June and July payment exercise.

Hon. Ige further stated that the present administration has paid over Twenty Five Billion Naira so far out of the inherited Thirty Six Billion Naira backlog of gratuity. He said “we need to appreciate our amiable Governor for being consistent in making life more bearable and meaningful for all pensioners in the state by providing unprecedented welfare packages since assumption of office in May 2019 till date.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina advised retirees to do away with middlemen in the processing of their retirement benefits. He also hinted that the Board will soon embark on a sensitization training program for prospective retirees across all the geo-political zones. The Permanent Secretary then commended the Governor for his pensioners’ friendly policies and programmes.

In his goodwill message, the State Secretary, Nigeria Union Pensioners (NUP) Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Olusegun Abatan gave kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde for taking good care of pensioners, and said “we are no longer dying like fowls, God will give us a good person like Seyi Makinde in the year 2027 because we don’t want to go back to Egypt , we don’t want the era of unpaid gratuity again. Seyi Makinde gave us icing on the cake by increasing our monthly pension. The least paid pensioner now collects Twenty Five Thousand”.

Comrade Olusegun Abatan then advised all the beneficiaries to spend their money wisely.

Also speaking at the event, the President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, who was recently re-elected for second term in office, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun applauded the Governor for prioritizing workers and pensioners’ welfare since assumption of office. He noted that other states pensioners and workers now envy the Pacesetter State. He said ” workers are no longer afraid to retire because pensioners now collects their monthly pension as and when due. Also, there will be no need for recomputation of retirement benefits again because Governor Seyi Makinde has conducted and released all outstanding promotions letters up till the year 2024.”

The State Chairmen of retired primary school teachers and Local Government staff, Com Dosu Akinpelu and Alhaji Muniru Adesope respectively also corroborated earlier speakers in their goodwill messages and then congratulated all the beneficiaries of the gratuity payment exercise.

Responding on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Mrs. Ogunjobi Cecilia, Mr. Adebiyi Olukunle, Mrs. Oyerinde Musili and Mrs. Johnson Oluyemisi thanked the Governor for his magnanimity and then prayed for more wisdom as he continues to steer the ship of the Pacesetter State.

Hon Ige  described Com Segun Abatan as a vibrant, visionary, selfless and exceptional Union leader who is passionate about the welfare of all the pensioners and never at any point  pursue any personal interest but rather ensure that all pensioners in the pacesetter State are not left out in the scheme of things.

Gov Seyi Makinde Approves #1b Monthly For Payment Of Retirement Benefits To Pry Sch Teachers, LG Retirees—- LGSPB Boss, Akeem Ige

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has approved the sum of One Billion Naira (#1b) monthly for payment of gratuity and death benefits to retired Local Government Staff and public primary school teachers.

This was disclosed by the Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige while delivering keynote address during the flag -off ceremony for payment of gratuity and death benefits to another batch of retired Local Government Staff and Primary School Teachers held at the Mini Hall of the Local Government Staff Training School Secretariat, Ibadan.

According to Hon Akeem Ige “the pensioners friendly Governor, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has increased monthly allocation for payment of retirement benefits twice within one year from Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira to Five Hundred Million  Naira and now One Billion Naira. This is unprecedented and highly commendable”.

“This was aimed to fastrack completion of payment and increase the number of beneficiaries. It is interesting to know that His Excellency, the Executive Governor will fulfill the promise made to ensure that no inherited debt and accrued retirement benefits is left before the expiration of his tenure in May 2027” he said.

He then highlighted some other welfare packages being enjoyed by pensioners under the present administration in Oyo State.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole in his remarks, lauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s exemplary leadership qualities, who has positively impacted lives and  transformed all sectors since he assumed office in May 2019 till date. He then congratulated all the beneficiaries of the payment exercise.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina  said  “His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde approved One Billion , Six Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (1.650b) for this payment exercise. I therefore congratulate all the four hundred and fifty four (454) beneficiaries.

The Executive Governor of Oyo State,  His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has been lauded for recording  landmark and unprecedented achievements  in six  years in office.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige gave the commendation in his congratulatory message to the Governor on the occasion of six years in office.

According to Hon Ige” on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, management, entire members of staff, retired primary school teachers and local government staff retirees heartily felicitate the pensioners friendly Governor, His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde on the sixth year in office today Thursday, 29th May, 2025.

“Governor Makinde has fulfilled his electioneering campaign promises in all sectors in the  pacesetter State from first term Accelerated Development Agenda to second term Sustainable Development Agenda.”

While describing the present administration as a purposeful and impactful one,  Hon Ige   reeled  out some of the achievements   ” this Government has paid over Twenty Three Billion Naira out of over Thirty Six Billion Naira inherited backlog of gratuity and retirement benefits, payment of monthly pension allowance on the 25th of every month.”

“In addition,  increase in monthly allocation for payment of gratuity to Five Hundred Million Naira, inclusion of retirees into OYSHIA scheme, decentralization of payment of gratuity and “I Am Alive”  screening exercise  in all the geo-political zones of the State.”

“Massive infrastructural development across all the geo-political zones, unprecedented recruitment exercises in  the ministries, commissions  and agencies,  procurement of medical equipment to hospitals, free education policy, on-going upgrading of Ibadan airport to international airport and others too numerous to mention” he said.

He then solicited for the continued support and cooperation of all citizens and residents of Oyo State to Governor Seyi Makinde led Government as he strives to deliver dividends of democracy to the doorstep of all and sundry.

One Year In Office: LGSPB Boss, Akeem Ige Holds Special Prayer, Appreciates Gov. Makinde, Staff

The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency,  Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for giving him the opportunity to serve in the present administration.

Hon Akeem Ige expressed his appreciation to the Governor during a special prayer organized today to mark his  one year in office held at the Mini Hall, Local Government Staff Training School,  Secretariat,  Ibadan.

While delivering keynote address,  the chairman also used the occasion to congratulate and pray for the Governor  as he marks  six years in office on  29th May 2025. He briefly highlighted  the  landmark achievements recorded so far since 2019 most especially in terms of pensioners’ welfare.

He also thanked the Permanent Secretary,  Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina, management and entire members of staff of the Board for their support,  cooperation and loyalty since he came on board.

In his goodwill message, the immediate past Accountant General of Oyo State  now the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Finance, Budget and Planning,  Alhaji Gafar Bello also commended the Governor for embarking on various developmental projects and positively impacting lives of all and sundry since 2019. He then congratulated Hon Akeem Ademola Ige on his one year in office.

Alhaji Gafar Bello also  admonished  the management and staff of the Board to always discharge their duties efficiently and effectively in order to continue to achieve success.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina thanked Almighty God for sparing the lives of the chairman and entire members of staff of the Board to witness the occasion. He therefore used the opportunity to congratulate  the Governor on his six years in office and also the chairman on his one year in office at the Local Government Staff Pension Board.

Alhaji Lukman Muraina then gave kudos to management and staff, attributing success recorded to  their unwavering support, cooperation and loyalty to the present Government in Oyo State.

Special prayers were later offered in Islamic and Christian ways by Imam Secretariat Mosque, Alfa Abdulhameed Adedeji and President,  Oyo State Christian Staff Fellowship, Pastor  Bankole Johnson for Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige ,  the Board and Oyo State in general.

All Directors, Deputy Directors,  Unit Heads and other members of staff of the Board and a  friend of the chairman Mr. Jeleel Ayuba were in attendance at the occasion.

Two Officers of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board that recently retired were  presented meritorious service awards and gifts by   the  management of the Board.

While presenting the award to the retired Deputy Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs Olanrewaju Beatrice Olamide and retired Chief Statistical Officer Mr Ishola Ayodeji  , at the retirement programme held at the Mini Hall of Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan, Hon Akeem Ige said  ” the awards and gifts were presented in recognition of their contributions to the growth and development of the Board while in public service” .

He noted that the retired Officers were hardworking, committed and dedicated to their duties and also exhibited high sense of responsibilities throughout the service.

The Chairman said ” we are rendering service to humanity in pension board and all the staff are performing their duties excellently,  so we are using this medium to appreciate our retirees.”

In his remarks , the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina said the Board has recorded great  transformation  and  improved service delivery. He then commended the retired Officers for their loyalty to the present government and utmost dedication to duties while in service.

Alhaji Lukman Muraina also used the occasion to appreciate the entire members of staff for their steadfast, loyalty, commitment and for always attending to pensioners with respect and humility.

In their various goodwill messages, the former Head of Service Alhaja Hamdalat Ololade Agboola, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Adewale Taiwo Olafimihan  and the President , Nigeria Union of  Local Government Employees (NULGE) ,  Oyo state branch, Com Ayobami Adeogun appreciated the Executive Governor of Oyo State , His Excellency , Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for his commitment to workers and pensioners welfare. Oyo govt Pays N60m To Pensioners Monthly

…confirms 22, 212 on Gov’t payroll

The Oyo State Government has disclosed that the sum of Sixty Million Naira (N60m) is being paid to state Pensioners monthly in a bid to clear their  outstanding arrears.

The Chairman, Oyo State Pension Board, Hon.Tunji Adekunle, stated this at a press briefing in his office on Wednesday.

He also confirmed that a total number of Twenty-two Thousand, Two Hundred and twelve (22, 212) pensioners are currently on the payroll of Oyo State Pension Board as of April, 2025.

He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration remains deeply committed to the welfare of pensioners, stressing  that  since the administration’s inception, pensions have been consistently disbursed on or before the 25th of each month, alongside  timely payment of salaries for active workers.

He further explained that new pensioners are being added to the payroll on a monthly basis.

“Since the beginning of this year alone, the State Pension Board has enrolled 142 pensioners in January, 175 in February, 171 in March, and 143 in April”, he said.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Hammed Bello commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support for retirees.

He stated that the timely and consistent payment of pensions has brought relief to many pensioners and  strengthened their trust with the State Government.

He reiterated the Board’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvements in pension administration across the state.

OYO LOCAL GOVT STAFF PENSION BOARD COMMENCES MONTHLY PAYMENT OF GRATUITY, DEATH BENEFITS

In order to improve the standard of living of beneficiaries, and also to fast the payment exercise, the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board today commenced monthly payment of gratuity to pensioners.

In his keynote address at the flag off ceremony of the monthly payment exercise, the Chairman of the Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige stated that all the pensioners friendly policies of His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde are being executed by the Board.

In his words ” as you are all aware that our amiable Governor Seyi Makinde is implementing policies and programmes that are making life more meaningful for all the pensioners in the State. Hence, we commence today monthly payment of gratuity and death benefits to another batch of retirees.”

” In our usual practice, the payment exercise will be held in all the geo-political zones of the State and all the beneficiaries will receive alert in the comfort of their homes. This is with a view to reduce stress of all the beneficiaries both retired Local Government staff and public primary school teachers. Total sum of Five Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (#550m) will be disbursed to One Hundred and Thirty Four beneficiaries in this payment exercise” he said.

Hon Akeem Ige then commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the recent unprecedented upward  increase in monthly pension of all pensioners in the State.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina said monthly payment of gratuity will allow pensioners have quick access to their retirement benefits and that the Board will soon embark on “I Am Alive Screening Exercise” in order to ascertain number of retirees that are alive and discover those that have died.

According to the Permanent Secretary, “conducting I Am Alive Screening Exercise is part of our statutory functions to determine the total number of retirees that are still alive and the deceased retirees. In August 2023, we saved millions of naira for the state government through the discovery at the screening exercise.”

In their various goodwill messages, the State Chairmen, Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP Retired Primary School Teachers’ wing Com Dosu Akinpelu and retired Local Government Staff wing Com Muniru Adesope respectively expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for rolling out pensioners welfare packages since assumption of office in May 2019 till date.

 

In their separate responses, Alhaji Fatai Azeez and Mrs. Mamasepe Janet on behalf of all the beneficiaries thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for paying their retirement benefits and prayed that God in His infinite mercy will continue to bless him.

The programme which was held in the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan had in attendance the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries Ibadan City zone1, Pastor Adeola Oduola, Ibadan Less City zone2 Mr. Olufemi Akinwale, Heads of Departments, LGSPB , NUP state Trustee 1 Comrade Ayodabo, and other state and Local Government NUP Executives.
