OYLGSPB, Oylgsc Commend Gov Seyi  Makinde For Implementing Pensioners, Workers Welfare Policies

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has been commended for implementing unprecedented and laudable welfare policies for workers and pensioners in the pacesetter State.

The commendation was given by the Chairman of the  Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige and Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Dr Aderemi Ayodele during the interactive meeting held with the Heads of Local Government Administration and Directors of Finance and Supplies across the thirty three Local Governments in Oyo State.

The Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige in his address said “the Governor in his wisdom and magnanimity has done a lot for both workers and pensioners and that is why you will never see pensioners going against Seyi Makinde’s Government. Our amiable Governor has approved payment of outstanding gratuity of all retired Heads of Local Government Administration. I therefore urged all local government officials to reciprocate the kind gesture of His Excellency by improving on your service delivery with utmost commitment and dedication to your duties. Ensure that pension and other allowances are paid promptly.”

Also, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission,  Dr Aderemi Ayodele said Governor Seyi Makinde is workers friendly and advised local government officials to shun financial infraction and other sharp practices that could tarnish the image of the commission and Oyo State as a whole.

Earlier in his opening remarks,  the Permanent Secretary Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina appreciated all Heads of Local Government Administration and Directors of Finance and Supplies across the thirty three local governments for their unwavering support and cooperation to the management of the Board. He stated that the purpose of the interactive meeting was to enable the new Chairman of the Board to familiarise with  them and to  inform them about the achievements recorded so far.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Taiwo Adewale Olafimihan said there is synergy between the managements of the Local Government Staff Pension Board and the Commission which brought about positive developments in the smooth running of both Government establishments. He however condemned the desperation being displayed for posting and appointment by officers in the Local Government Service. He then advised them to desist from influencing posting and appointment.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Governor for making life more meaningful and bearable for pensioners in the State, the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State Council, Comrade Segun Abatan said pension is in the first line charge and then appealed to Local Government authorities to always ensure prompt processing and payment of pension and other allowances of pensioners in their various local governments.

Furthermore, the President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun commended His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for embarking on various laudable and unprecedented welfare  policies for workers and pensioners in the State .

In their various responses, the Chairmen of the two  forums of the Heads of Local Government Administration and that of Directors of Finance thanked the Executive Governor of Oyo State, management of the Commission and pension Board for making life more meaningful for both serving and retired civil servants and teachers. They promised to  improve on some of the service issues identified at the meeting for effective service delivery .

The meeting had in attendance the State  NUP Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Abolade, NUP Chairman Teachers Wing Comrade Dosu Akinpelu, NUP Secretary Teachers Wing Comrade Tunji Ogunwale,  management teams  of both Local Government Staff Pension Board and Local Government Service Commission among others.

Oyo Govt Payrolls Another Set Of Primary School Teachers, LG Staff Retirees

The Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has payrolled another set of primary school teachers, local government staff retirees.

While delivering his address during the payrolling exercise which took place at the State Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige congratulated all the  retirees for their meritorious service and prayed that they will enjoy the fruits of their labour in good health.

Speaking further, the chairman restated the State Government’s determination and commitment to make life more meaningful and bearable for all pensioners in the State. “Gone are the days when pensioners received their pension in percentages but since the inception of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration pensions are paid in full and pensioners are able to take proper care of their health, pensioners also receive gratuity ,  fifteen thousand naira wage award, ten thousand naira Christmas bonus, inclusion of pensioners in the health insurance scheme and many more ” he said.

Hon Akeem Ademola Ige then advised them to engage in small businesses and be careful of fraudulent people. He therefore solicited for their continued support and cooperation to Governor Seyi Makinde led Government in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina congratulated the retirees that completed and follow the necessary procedure required by the Board for collection of their monthly pension and admonished them to take proper care of their health in order to enjoy the fruits of their labour in good health.

While responding on behalf of the retirees that collected their Pension certificate and other documents during the payrolling exercise, Mr. Ogundele Azeez of IDC Primary School Erunmu, Mr. Sunday Olayinka Alabi of Ibadan North East Local Government and Mrs. Atilola Funmilola Agnes of  Salvation Army Primary School 1 Kube,  appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for prompt payment of pension and other welfare packages being enjoyed by pensioners since his assumption of office in May 2019 till date.

Among those that graced the occasion include Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Kehinde Fasola, Director of Finance and Supplies Mrs. Temitayo Adeyemo, Internal Auditor Deacon Michael Morolahun, Deputy Director of Administration and General Services Mrs. Olamide Olanrewaju and Desk Officers.

LGSPB Chairman Solicits For More Support, Cooperation Of All Pensioners To Gov. Makinde Led Administration

The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board , Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has solicited for continued support, cooperation and understanding of all pensioners  to the present administration in Oyo State led by His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.

Hon Akeem Ige stated this in his  address during the courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) Executives, Oyo State Council in their office at the Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Ibadan.

Hon Akeem Ige said the present Government  is happy with the  State NUP Executives led by Comrades Isiaka Abolade, Chairman and Comrade Segun Abatan Secretary for being a pride of South West States through their  landmark achievements  and cooperation with the State Government from May 2019 till date.

In his words, “I sincerely appreciate you all and I want to use this medium to solicit for your continued collaboration, cooperation, understanding and support to our amiable and indefatigable Peoples Governor, His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde led administration as you have exhibited since assumption of office in May 2019 to Omituntun 2.0. The result of the last general election is unprecedented because the Governor won with a landslide victory. I appreciate Comrade Segun Abatan and other Executive members for being selfless leaders fighting the course of all Pensioners”.

While acknowledging the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde for implementing various workers and pensioners welfare packages consistently,  the chairman gave kudos to the Governor for not being part of the twenty State Governors that are not paying wage award mentioned by Nigeria Labour Congress( NLC) and reaffirmed Government commitment and determination to continue to prioritize pensioners welfare.

He then informed  them that His Excellency was already looking at ways of commencing payment of outstanding  pension arrears of retired primary school teachers on monthly basis. He also  intimidated  them that he would soon pay visit to all pensioners in the geo-political zones of the State in order to familiarise himself with  them.

In his welcome address, the State Secretary, Comrade Segun Abatan said Governor Seyi Makinde is a “God Sent Man” to pensioners. He described pensioners experience during the past administrations as traumatizing, noted that pensioners had trauma for sixteen years most especially during the eight years of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration who said primary school teachers did not vote for him during the election so he refused to pay gratuity.

Describing Seyi Makinde  as being consistent who never failed in all his promises. He said “Governor Seyi Makinde has been the clearing house of the rascality and irresponsibility of the past administrations. A God Sent Man to pensioners, who walks the talk by setting up a committee to fashion out  how all gratuity will be paid before 28th May, 2027. The prayer of all pensioners now is that Oyo State should have a Governor like or better than Seyi Makinde after the expiration of his second term in office so that we will continue to enjoy more welfare packages.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, Oyo State NUP, Comrade Isiaka Abolade corroborated the State Secretary, and said” we appreciate our amiable Governor Seyi Makinde for being pensioners’ friendly since assumption of office and I appeal  to Hon Akeem Ige to use your position to influence more welfare packages for pensioners and we pray for your successful tenure of office “.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina thanked the State NUP Executives for their unalloyed support to the management of the Board.

Hon Akeem Ige and his entourage were later conducted round the newly constructed Oyo State Pensioners Hospital located at Onireke, Ibadan solely financed by all pensioners in the pacesetter State.

Oyo LG Pension Board Promises Harmony with Workers, Retirees

Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Ademola Ige has promised to foster harmony between the board and other stakeholders on pension matters.

Honourable Ige made this known at a reception with members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE and Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council.

Honourable Ige said that he would continue to ensure improved welfare packages for Local Government workers and pensioners in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda.

Honourable Ige, who is a former chairman, Ibadan South East Local Government, called for support from workers of the board.

On his part, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, while pledging the union’s support to Honourable Ige, urged him to urgently look into issues affecting retirees of Local Government Staff Pension Board.

Earlier, State President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun appealed to the State Government to recruit more Local Government workers.
