The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has rewarded some members of staff for their outstanding performances in the discharge of their duties for the month of October,  2024.

While presenting gifts to some members of staff of the Board during the monthly coordination meeting, Hon. Ige emphasized the need  for entire members of staff to always relate with pensioners with respect, humility, patience and love. Noting that they are senior citizens who had served the State  meritoriously.

Describing the duties of the Board as humanitarian services  which need to be delivered with joy, the chairman said  “Local Government Staff Pension Board is one the best Boards in Oyo State that attracts appreciation and commendation from people especially pensioners because we promote Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration positively through our improved  service delivery”.

Hon. Ige further stated that he operates an open door policy which encourages mutual understanding, good working relationship and love between the management and staff most especially with him in order to continue to record success.

According to him “I operate an open door policy and I want all members of staff to have free access to me to discuss issues pertaining to your personal progress and the Board as a whole. Also, the gifts are meant to encourage and motivate staff to continue to be more effective and efficient in the discharge of your duties”.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary,  Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina commended entire members of staff of the Board for being  hardworking,  discipline and efficient. “I want to use this medium to to commend you for being hardworking, honest, fantastic and loyal. Continue in that manner because it pays. This is a winning team that is projecting the good image of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency,  Eng. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde. Don’t relent because there is reward for efficiency and commitment to duties”, he said.

In their various contributions on behalf of staff, the NULGE Chairman, LGSPB branch, Com. Ademola Adedokun, Mrs. Lamidi Funmilayo,  Mrs.  Arowolo Sakirat,  Miss Lasisi Oladayo, Mr Azeez Ademola and Mrs Tejuosho Bukola appreciated the authority of the Board for prioritizing workers welfare and presented some of their requests for urgent attention.

Staff that received reward for the month of October, 2024 are Pastor Ayodele Aderibigbe (LGSPB Ambassador), Mr Shakiru Ogunmola (Most Hardworking Staff of  the Month 1), Mr Yinka Ajasa (Most Hardworking Staff of the Month 11) , Mrs Yetunde Olatunji (Most Well Dressed  Female Staff of the Month) and  Mr Adeleye  Isiaka (Most Well Dressed Male Staff of the Month).

Ambassador Ayodele Aderibigbe on behalf of the awardees later appreciated the authority of the Board for the recognition and promised to do more.

Also, Special prayers were  offered for birthday celebrants for the month of October ( Mrs Adeyemo Temitayo,  Director of Finance and Supplies and Mr Adegoke Adeniyi,  Driver)

LGSPB Boss, Akeem Ige Applauds Gov Makinde For Construction Of Local Government House , Staff Training School And Absorption Of Adhoc Staff

The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has applauded the Executive Governor of Oyo State,  His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for the construction, completion and commissioning of the new Ultra modern Local Government House,  Staff Training School and conversion of Adhoc Staff to  permanent staff.

While delivering his goodwill message at the commissioning ceremony,   Hon Akeem Ige commended the Governor for being workers and pensioners friendly, the chairman said it is indeed a new dawn in the pacesetter State.

Noting that the Local Government Service Commission has  been a tenant in the Water Corporation building for the past forty two years and that  Governor Seyi Makinde deemed it fit to provide a more conducive  working environment with state of the art facilities   to enhance workers productivity by constructing such a magnificent family house to accommodate  Local Government Staff Pension Board, Local Government Service Commission and Ministry of Local Government Staff.

Hon Akeem Ademola Ige also expressed gratitude to the Governor for his magnanimity for granting  approval for the conversation of Adhoc Staff to Permanent Staff.  He noted that this is a testament that the Governor listens to yearnings and aspirations of the people.

The  chairman also said in addition to various monumental infrastructural projects embarked upon by  the present administration, he thanked the Governor for donating his monthly salary to Pensioners since  2019 , prompt payment of salary and pension on the 25th of every month,  payment of inherited backlog of gratuity, increase in monthly allocation from Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira to Five Hundred Million Naira, Twenty Five Thousand Naira wage award to workers while  pensioners  also get  Fifteen Thousand Naira, Ten Thousand Naira christmas bonus and many more.

NULGE, AOPSHON, NUP, NUT Applaud Oyo Govt For Organizing Sensitization Training For Prospective Retirees Of Primary Sch Teachers, LG Staff

The  various union leaders in Oyo State,  the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) and Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) have applauded the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for granting approval for the sensitization training programme for prospective retirees of public primary school teachers and Local Government staff.

The commendation was given by the union leaders at the end of a 2-Day Sensitization Training Programme for Prospective Retirees that will retire from July to December 2024 which was held across all the seven geo-political zones in the pacesetter state between Monday, 15th July – Tuesday 6th, August 2024.

Comrades  Ayobami Adeogun (NULGE),  Adedeji Adekunle (AOPSHON), Abolade Isiaka,  Segun Abatan (NUP)  and  Raji Oladimeji said the programme was unprecedented, first of its kind, highly impactful, an eye opener for all the participants. Describing Governor Seyi Makinde as a true friend of both workers and pensioners in Oyo State.

Earlier in his closing speech at the end of the sensitization training programme which took place at Ibarapa Zone, the Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige appreciated the Governor for being workers and pensioners friendly through his welfare packages, he also commended all the resource persons the practical interface and interaction with all the participants in the seven geo-political zones.

“I want to use this medium to thank His Excellency Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for granting the approval for this training programme and also appreciate our resource persons for your commitment” he said.

Hon Akeem Ademola Ige then appealed to all the participants/ beneficiaries of the training programme to make judicious use of knowledge gained and pass the information to others.

Plan For Life After  Retirement – LGSPB  Boss, Akeem Ige Admonishes Prospective Retirees

Prospective retirees of primary school teachers and local government staff that are due for retirement from July to December 2024 have been admonished  to make proper plans for their retirement lives.

The admonition was given by the Chairman,  Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige while  delivering his keynote address at the 2-Day Sensitization Training Programme for Prospective Retirees in Oke Ogun zones 1 & 2 held at Iseyin Town Hall,  Iseyin and Saki East LG, Ago Amodu respectively. He noted that the training programme which is decentralized in all the seven geo-political zones in Oyo State with the theme “Towards Achieving Hitch-Free Processing of Retirement Benefits”

He emphasized that the training programme is in line with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde’s commitment to pensioners welfare. He stated that this is in addition to regular, prompt payment of pension in the 25th of every month, payment of over eighteen billion naira out of over thirty six billion naira inherited backlog of gratuity from previous administrations.

He stated further that the Governor increased monthly amount from  two hundred and fifty million to Five hundred million, reinstatement and payment of accrued arrears of all pensioners that missed various screening verification exercises back into monthly payroll among others and now in his magnanimity approved training programme for prospective retirees.

Hon Ige therefore enjoined prospective retirees to prepare and plan adequately for life after retirement.

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina advised them to adhere strictly to the rules, regulations, laws guiding the procedure of processing their retirement benefits.

Similarly, the Chairman, House Committee on Establishment and Pension, Hon Lukman Jimoh Ishola representing Oorelope constituency and the Executive Chairman, Saki East LG Hon Prince Adedokun Emmanuel Oladokun gave kudos to the Governor for various pensioners welfare packages since assumption of office in May 2019.

In their insightful  lectures, the highly experienced resource persons which include Former Commissioner, Ministry of Establishment and Training who is now the Special Adviser to the Governor on Establishment and Training Alhaji Siju Lawal,   the retired Auditor General for Local Government Mr. Sola Akinola  Acing Auditor General for Local Government Mrs Fasilat,  Rahman, OYSHIA Executive Secretary Dr. Sola Akande, Permanent Secretary, Min of Establishment and Training Mr. Mahmud Olujide Okesade.

Others include Director of Personal, SUBEB, Mrs. Adegbenjo Omolara  Principal Accountant, LGSPB, Pastor Ayodele Aderibigbe and Deputy Director Office of Auditor General for Local Government, Mr Tunji Akinsanya all corroborated pension Board chairman by giving  the prospective retirees procedure for processing of their retirement benefits, tips, strategies to a peaceful and healthy retirement life.

Desist From Patronising Intermediaries,  Agents—- LGSPB Chairman Warns Prospective Retirees

Prospective retirees of both primary school teachers and local government staff have been warned to desist from patronising touts, agents and intermediaries in the processing of their retirement benefits.

The warning was given by the Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige during the 2-Day Sensitization Training Programme for public primary school teachers and local government staff that are due for retirement between July and December 2024 held in Oyo and Ogbomoso Zones which is a continuation of the training that was declared open by the State Head of Service Mrs Olubunmi Oni on Monday 15th July , 2024 at  House of Chiefs Parliament Building Secretariat,  Ibadan.

While highlighting some of the dangers inherent in patronising agents,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige decried the rate at which  they deceitfully extort money from prospective retirees which necessitated the reason for organising the sensitization training programme across the seven geo-political zones in Oyo State.

He further stated that the image of the agencies involved in the  processing of retirement benefits is being tarnished, hence the need to curb extortionists

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina said the training programme is  first of its kind was organized to sensitize prospective retirees that are due for retirement from July – December  2024 in order to have a hitch free processing of their retirement benefits.

Highly experienced resource persons delivered various impactful topics ranging from the Roles of Agencies involved in the Processing of Retirement Benefits,  Existing Laws, Rules , Regulations and Circulars on Pension Administration,  Transition from Active Service to Retirement Life: Tips and Strategy for Survival and other life changing topics.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries of the training programme, Mr Yemi Olona and Mr Gbadamosi Animashaun thanked Local Government Staff Pension Board for organizing the programme which they described as an eye opener.

OYLGSPB, Oylgsc Commend Gov Seyi  Makinde For Implementing Pensioners, Workers Welfare Policies

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde has been commended for implementing unprecedented and laudable welfare policies for workers and pensioners in the pacesetter State.

The commendation was given by the Chairman of the  Local Government Staff Pension Board,  Hon Akeem Ademola Ige and Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Dr Aderemi Ayodele during the interactive meeting held with the Heads of Local Government Administration and Directors of Finance and Supplies across the thirty three Local Governments in Oyo State.

The Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board Hon Akeem Ademola Ige in his address said “the Governor in his wisdom and magnanimity has done a lot for both workers and pensioners and that is why you will never see pensioners going against Seyi Makinde’s Government. Our amiable Governor has approved payment of outstanding gratuity of all retired Heads of Local Government Administration. I therefore urged all local government officials to reciprocate the kind gesture of His Excellency by improving on your service delivery with utmost commitment and dedication to your duties. Ensure that pension and other allowances are paid promptly.”

Also, the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission,  Dr Aderemi Ayodele said Governor Seyi Makinde is workers friendly and advised local government officials to shun financial infraction and other sharp practices that could tarnish the image of the commission and Oyo State as a whole.

Earlier in his opening remarks,  the Permanent Secretary Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina appreciated all Heads of Local Government Administration and Directors of Finance and Supplies across the thirty three local governments for their unwavering support and cooperation to the management of the Board. He stated that the purpose of the interactive meeting was to enable the new Chairman of the Board to familiarise with  them and to  inform them about the achievements recorded so far.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Taiwo Adewale Olafimihan said there is synergy between the managements of the Local Government Staff Pension Board and the Commission which brought about positive developments in the smooth running of both Government establishments. He however condemned the desperation being displayed for posting and appointment by officers in the Local Government Service. He then advised them to desist from influencing posting and appointment.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Governor for making life more meaningful and bearable for pensioners in the State, the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State Council, Comrade Segun Abatan said pension is in the first line charge and then appealed to Local Government authorities to always ensure prompt processing and payment of pension and other allowances of pensioners in their various local governments.

Furthermore, the President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun commended His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for embarking on various laudable and unprecedented welfare  policies for workers and pensioners in the State .

In their various responses, the Chairmen of the two  forums of the Heads of Local Government Administration and that of Directors of Finance thanked the Executive Governor of Oyo State, management of the Commission and pension Board for making life more meaningful for both serving and retired civil servants and teachers. They promised to  improve on some of the service issues identified at the meeting for effective service delivery .

Oyo Govt Payrolls Another Set Of Primary School Teachers, LG Staff Retirees

The Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board has payrolled another set of primary school teachers, local government staff retirees.

While delivering his address during the payrolling exercise which took place at the State Secretariat, Ibadan, the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige congratulated all the  retirees for their meritorious service and prayed that they will enjoy the fruits of their labour in good health.

Speaking further, the chairman restated the State Government’s determination and commitment to make life more meaningful and bearable for all pensioners in the State. “Gone are the days when pensioners received their pension in percentages but since the inception of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration pensions are paid in full and pensioners are able to take proper care of their health, pensioners also receive gratuity ,  fifteen thousand naira wage award, ten thousand naira Christmas bonus, inclusion of pensioners in the health insurance scheme and many more ” he said.

Hon Akeem Ademola Ige then advised them to engage in small businesses and be careful of fraudulent people. He therefore solicited for their continued support and cooperation to Governor Seyi Makinde led Government in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina congratulated the retirees that completed and follow the necessary procedure required by the Board for collection of their monthly pension and admonished them to take proper care of their health in order to enjoy the fruits of their labour in good health.

While responding on behalf of the retirees that collected their Pension certificate and other documents during the payrolling exercise, Mr. Ogundele Azeez of IDC Primary School Erunmu, Mr. Sunday Olayinka Alabi of Ibadan North East Local Government and Mrs. Atilola Funmilola Agnes of  Salvation Army Primary School 1 Kube,  appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for prompt payment of pension and other welfare packages being enjoyed by pensioners since his assumption of office in May 2019 till date.

LGSPB Chairman Solicits For More Support, Cooperation Of All Pensioners To Gov. Makinde Led Administration

The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board , Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has solicited for continued support, cooperation and understanding of all pensioners  to the present administration in Oyo State led by His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.

Hon Akeem Ige stated this in his  address during the courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) Executives, Oyo State Council in their office at the Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Ibadan.

Hon Akeem Ige said the present Government  is happy with the  State NUP Executives led by Comrades Isiaka Abolade, Chairman and Comrade Segun Abatan Secretary for being a pride of South West States through their  landmark achievements  and cooperation with the State Government from May 2019 till date.

In his words, “I sincerely appreciate you all and I want to use this medium to solicit for your continued collaboration, cooperation, understanding and support to our amiable and indefatigable Peoples Governor, His Excellency,  Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde led administration as you have exhibited since assumption of office in May 2019 to Omituntun 2.0. The result of the last general election is unprecedented because the Governor won with a landslide victory. I appreciate Comrade Segun Abatan and other Executive members for being selfless leaders fighting the course of all Pensioners”.

While acknowledging the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde for implementing various workers and pensioners welfare packages consistently,  the chairman gave kudos to the Governor for not being part of the twenty State Governors that are not paying wage award mentioned by Nigeria Labour Congress( NLC) and reaffirmed Government commitment and determination to continue to prioritize pensioners welfare.

He then informed  them that His Excellency was already looking at ways of commencing payment of outstanding  pension arrears of retired primary school teachers on monthly basis. He also  intimidated  them that he would soon pay visit to all pensioners in the geo-political zones of the State in order to familiarise himself with  them.

In his welcome address, the State Secretary, Comrade Segun Abatan said Governor Seyi Makinde is a “God Sent Man” to pensioners. He described pensioners experience during the past administrations as traumatizing, noted that pensioners had trauma for sixteen years most especially during the eight years of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration who said primary school teachers did not vote for him during the election so he refused to pay gratuity.

Describing Seyi Makinde  as being consistent who never failed in all his promises. He said “Governor Seyi Makinde has been the clearing house of the rascality and irresponsibility of the past administrations. A God Sent Man to pensioners, who walks the talk by setting up a committee to fashion out  how all gratuity will be paid before 28th May, 2027. The prayer of all pensioners now is that Oyo State should have a Governor like or better than Seyi Makinde after the expiration of his second term in office so that we will continue to enjoy more welfare packages.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, Oyo State NUP, Comrade Isiaka Abolade corroborated the State Secretary, and said” we appreciate our amiable Governor Seyi Makinde for being pensioners’ friendly since assumption of office and I appeal  to Hon Akeem Ige to use your position to influence more welfare packages for pensioners and we pray for your successful tenure of office “.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Lukman Akinola Muraina thanked the State NUP Executives for their unalloyed support to the management of the Board.

Hon Akeem Ige and his entourage were later conducted round the newly constructed Oyo State Pensioners Hospital located at Onireke, Ibadan solely financed by all pensioners in the pacesetter State.

Oyo LG Pension Board Promises Harmony with Workers, Retirees

Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Honourable Ademola Ige has promised to foster harmony between the board and other stakeholders on pension matters.

Honourable Ige made this known at a reception with members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE and Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council.

Honourable Ige said that he would continue to ensure improved welfare packages for Local Government workers and pensioners in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda.

Honourable Ige, who is a former chairman, Ibadan South East Local Government, called for support from workers of the board.

On his part, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, while pledging the union’s support to Honourable Ige, urged him to urgently look into issues affecting retirees of Local Government Staff Pension Board.

Earlier, State President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Comrade Ayobami Adeogun appealed to the State Government to recruit more Local Government workers.
